White Gold Lockets
White gold lockets are another truly elegant way to make your locket experience unique and special. They’re a little more pricey than regular lockets, but it’s well worth it in terms of what you get out of it.

What Is White Gold?
This is a question I get all the time. ‘What is white gold anyways? ‘ ‘Isn’t gold supposed to be yellow?’ The fact is that goldsmiths across the centuries have gained lots of knowledge to make beautiful gold jewelry in plenty of different shades and colors. White gold is only one of them, but it’s easily the most popular.
White gold is actually a gold alloy that typically uses nickel or palladium to achieve the silvery color. How can you tell which of these two your locket has? Easy - palladium is more expensive because it’s more rare and valuable. If you find a white gold locket for $100, it’s got nickel in it. If it’s higher than $300, it’s likely palladium. It’s possible to find a white gold locket with palladium for less, but definitely difficult.
Typically a jeweler will coat the gold alloy with rhodium to make sure it actually comes out looking white. Otherwise it’s a little brownish, and nobody likes that.
Why Go With White Gold?
White gold is a really good choice if you want all the benefits of gold’s longevity with a more silvery tone. They look great and they work great, so you can’t go wrong! White gold rings are a nice choice if you like the style and elegance of this precious metal but prefer something which isn’t displayed around your neck. White gold has the lovely property of looking incredible in many different kinds of jewelry, from rings to lockets and beyond.
